Position: Digital Marketing Manager

Summary

The Digital Marketing Manager is responsible for sharing the story of the greater Bloomington-Normal area as a destination to live, work, and visit through social media, the VisitBN website, search, pay per click, display, email and SMS campaigns, and all digital/online channels. This position has extensive public contact, so it is important to have vast knowledge of the community and be able to always convey a positive company image. The Digital Marketing Manager will play a critical role in enhancing VisitBNs online presence and driving engagement through digital channels.

Supervision

The Digital Marketing Manager reports directly to the Brand and Marketing Director. This position may supervise interns.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited university or college
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong and creative writing skills
  • Knowledge of relevant social media platforms, digital platforms, content management systems, Microsoft, Google applications, email

Qualifications Preferred

  • Five (5) years of experience in digital marketing role(s)
  • Photography and videography
  • Graphic design skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team member

Essential Position Functions

  • Manage VisitBNs social media channels, including Facebook and Instagram, and other new or up-and-coming channels.
  • Develop strategies to utilize other popular channels such as TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn. Make recommendations on the appropriate channels to target messages.
  • Create and establish social media strategies to increase community engagement, online conversations, and following.
  • Identify trends and insights to optimize digital marketing performance.
  • Understand social media metrics clearly to ensure the social media strategy is achieving its goals. Develop a monthly reporting structure for the Brand and Marketing Director and adjust when necessary.
  • Coordinate social media takeovers and influencer campaigns with locals and regional content creators working in coordination with the Brand and Marketing Director.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with area businesses and event planners to actively promote through VisitBNs channels.
  • Develop and coordinate informational and engaging content that appropriately highlights the Bloomington-Normal area as a destination.
  • Prioritize SEO and SEM as a part of all campaign management.
  • Oversee VisitBNs website, ensuring it is user-friendly and up-to-date, and optimized for search engines.
  • Create custom web landing pages for special events and groups that highlight relevant information for their specific needs.
  • Develop and execute electronic newsletters and emails, as needed for targeted markets, including leisure and niche marketssports, conferences, and group travel.
  • Maintain web updates for visitbn.org, enjoyillinois.com, or other related websites.
  • Ensure all digital content and messaging align with VisitBNs brand identity and marketing objectives.
  • Manage the digital marketing budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and track ROI for digital marketing activities.
  • Communicate upcoming activities and events with the Enjoy Illinois PR team and other interested partners.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador for the organization by assisting with special event projects.
  • Perform other duties as required to support the overall goals of VisitBN.

Psychological Considerations

  • Must be able to interact with everyone who enters the VisitBN offices to resolve problems fairly and with judgment aligned with the mission of VisitBN.
  • Must be able to organize, plan, and implement multiple projects simultaneously and complete by their respective deadlines.
  • Must be able to be an initiative-taker who can work with little supervision.

Physiological Considerations

  • Must be able to endure rigorous schedules during peak programming seasons.
  • Must be able to work some evenings and weekends.
  • Must be able to lift supplies and equipment (up to 50 pounds) when needed.

Environmental Considerations

  • Ability to be exposed to all weather conditions including rain, wind, snow, and extreme temperatures.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to act safely and always follow safety regulations.
