About the Job
**THIS POSITION IS 20-24 HOURS PER WEEK**
Reporting to the Development Director, the Communications and Social Media Specialist is responsible for developing and maintaining the marketing and professional communication released on behalf of OUR Center, ensuring adherence to OUR Center’s Code of Ethics in all communications. The Communications and Social Media Specialist promotes OUR Center brand and drives digital follower expansion, creating and distributing content in various formats across multiple channels, as well as developing print materials and website content. 

 

Essential Duties:

  • Creates, implements, and manages strategies for public relations and media/marketing campaigns to promote OUR Center to internal and external audiences, including key stakeholders.
    • Utilizes various forms of media to promote OUR Center and assist in operational goals.
    • Develops and implements support materials for marketing, communications, and public relations.
    • Maintains OUR Center’s website and social media communications, including posting regular updates, responding to comments and messages, and tracking analytics to measure engagement and impact.
    • Creates compelling content for OUR Center and Aspen Center communications channels, including website, newsletters, press releases, and social media platforms.
    • Collaborates with Development Director to develops messaging and materials to attract new funding sources and in-kind gifts, in coordination with the Development Director.
  • Establishes and maintains a presence and relationships in the community with key media sources (print, video, and electronic) to increase OUR Center’s visibility and reputation.
    • Seeks out and participates in media opportunities to promote OUR Center’s programs, including support of volunteer recruitment in collaboration with the Director of Volunteer Services, and employee recruitment, partnering with Human Resources. 
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders. 
    • Supports the leadership team in development of communication materials, including brochures, presentations, and reports, to strengthen programmatic initiatives.
    • Supports other team members as needed with external communication and outreach efforts.
  • Performs data analysis. 
    • Analyzes trends in marketing and social media that impact OUR Center’s marketing efforts.
    • Collaborates with Development Director to collect data and issue reports on outreach activities.
  • Attends outreach events in the community to elevate and enhance visibility and understanding of OUR Center, encouraging social and financial support of OUR Center’s mission and programs.
    • Develops and delivers presentations for stakeholder groups and community outreach activities.
    • Identifies and assists with development and maintenance of outreach activities. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications: 

Education and Training: 

  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, marketing, or communications required. 


Experience: 

  • Minimum five years’ marketing and public relations experience, including media relations in the human services arena, preferred.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Demonstrated experience in website development and maintenance. 
  • Experience with desktop publishing and presentation software.
  • Bilingual verbal and written skills (English and Spanish) preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Ability to occasionally work outside of regular office hours in order to meet organizational commitments in the community. 


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Work is primarily performed in a typical office setting. Work may be performed in a private residence or community setting. 
  • Prolonged periods of using a computer. 
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of approximately 20 lbs.
